A Night at the Movies with Canon 5D Mark II and RODE

Just a note to say that Paul & I really enjoyed the night at the movies. The Canon Mark II looks sensational and certainly presented brilliantly on the Mercury cinema big screen! The short movies were light and entertaining too. We look forward to hearing about your next Canon events night!

Zigview S2

Gadget Guru's Your Attention Please!!!
I have just tested the Zigview S2 eyepiece adapter - live view flip style monitor. As a new user, I found it to be easy, comfortable and extremely useful whilst shooting difficult angled shots. This fantastic monitor style eye piece could be moved into extreme positions without stretching an inch. The beauty of it too was that the camera auto focus function was able to operate without any problems. So for anyone that is short or likes to sit down to take ph… Continue

Gday Naomi, I havent used Zigview so I cant help you out there as i rarely use Live View. The only time that I use it , is when shooting video with the 5D Mark 2 as you have no option, outside that it is a feature that I dont use and I have it on the Nikon D700 as well.I can see where it will be help for people but so far Ive not really needed to use it and for me when im looking through the view finder, i feel more engaged with what im taking and that I have no distractions around me, when I look through the view finder I have that small area and composing a shot becomes a closer and more personal thing. its hard t explain and yes its strange.

I tried using the live view for composing shots and I found it not as engaging as you have other distractions around you. I guess its just choice and what people prefer and are use to.

I would be of the few that dont use it at this point in time, although Im sure down the track there will be opportunities.

As for wanting to have an image on a billboard, well any of those thots of the faces that I saw are well and truly good enough. The strength in what we take lies in the subject for that compelling shot and your faces that you took are just that!!!!!.

The camera is the tool to achieve the shot, the camera doesnt make the shot, you do and you have done well Buddy!!!!

Gday Naomi, Im glad that you enjoyed the eveinging. I love the camera as it opens up so many possiblities if you want them.Thats the good thing about the 5D Mark 11, if you have the camera and you want to go to other extremes, or new avenues, you can , it is at your finger tips. Like everything about this technology, maybe in 12 months this camera will be out dated but this camera will serve me for sometime to come. Love your people shots, they are awesome!!!
